About PENHALIGON'S

William Penhaligon, a barber from Penzance in Cornwall, opened his barbershop at 66 Jermyn Street, London, in 1870 and created his first fragrance, Hammam Bouquet, in 1872. His son Walter later created Blenheim Bouquet for the 9th Duke of Marlborough.

The house holds four Royal Warrants, from Queen Alexandra in 1903 to King Charles III, and has been part of Puig since 2015. In 2016 it launched the Portraits collection of eccentric aristocratic characters, each with its own scent and a hand-finished animal-head cap.

Choosing a scent. For a warm, sweet scent try The Changing Constance or The Omniscient Mr Thompson. For incense and wood, The World According To Arthur or The Inimitable William Penhaligon. For florals, Liquid Love. For something fresh, The Cut.
